Verbs - Past Tense (zman 3avar)

A verb in the past tense עָבַר agrees with its subject in person (first, second, or third) and number, and in the second-person singular and plural and third-person singular, gender.

In the past tense, the root appears at or towards the beginning of the word, and then is followed by a special suffix (word ending) that lets the speaker and listener know exactly who has done the action.  

Infinitive: to write (likhtov) לכתוב

I wrote/have written Suffix: תִּי (katavti) אֲנִי כָּתַבְתִּי

You wrote/have written Suffix: תָּה (katavta) אֲתָּה כָּתַבְתָּה
 
You wrote/have written Suffix: תְּ (katavt)  אֲתְּ כָּתַבְתְּ
 He wrote/has written No Suffix (katav) הוּא כָּתַב

She wrote/has written Suffix: ה ָ (katva) הִיא כָּתְבָה
 
We wrote/have written Suffix: נוּ (katavnu) אֲנַחְנוּ כָּתַבְנוּ
 You wrote/have written Suffix: תֶּם (ktavtem) אֲתֶּם כְּתַבְתֶּם
 
 You wrote/have written Suffix: תֶּן (ktavten) אֲתֶּן כְּתַבְתֶּן
 
They wrote/have written Suffix: וּ (katvu) הֵם כָּתְבוּ

They wrote/have written Suffix: וּ (katvu) הֵן כָּתְבוּ
